Welcome,
Teachers & Parents!

Here’s a quick tip that makes life guiding children easier.

Avoid saying, "If….,Then," to children. "If you clean up, then you can play."

It sounds optional. Kids hear “If,” and think, "Well, maybe I don’t have to."

Instead, try “When….Then.”  For example: "When you clean up, then you can play," or for older children "When you clean up, then you can play video games."

It gives them a clear path to success without turning it into a battle.

That tiny change communicates expectation.

It’s not optional. It’s just the order of events.

Switching from “If…Then,” to “When…Then,” sets clear boundaries and helps children understand responsibility.

Try it today and add it to your tool bag of behavior strategies.
