“Use Props.”
Props can totally transform your class. Kids of all ages will listen to props even more than they will listen to their teachers. I like using puppets with younger kids. With older kids, I have done silly things like put on special teaching funny glasses. When the glasses go on, the kids know they're going to hear something they have to write down and learn.
